Blog 1 (or whatever): prioritizing this over social media
Hi, Consider this an intro to how i’m gonna use this blog post.
I’ve been active on the social media in some way shape or form since about 2008 when I first made a YouTube account so I can subscribe to my favorite creators and comment on their videos. Since then i have (like so many) interacted and posted on most every other social media platform since then. In the past five years i have reduced that use down to just instagram and YouTube i would post random videos to YouTube whenever i felt like, and on instagram i would promote my own art and design stuff with a little bit of real life stuff thrown in.
Recently tho I realized that instagram reels and YouTube shorts take up a whole lot of my time on those apps and even a lot of my time on my own phone. Regardless of content I feel like, for some people, that format is a real time sink and ultimately is detrimental to one’s ability to use the time in their day in a productive manor.
This is the main reason I deleted them from my phone. I cant get rid of them out right but i am gonna start phasing it out and putting more of a focus on THIS WEBSITE RIGHT HERE. If i do video or streaming I’ll still post them to YouTube or Twitch but right now all of my future things that i would normally post on insta will go here also.
It wont happen quick but hopefully the age of social media comes to an end cus as it gets bigger and bigger it becomes less and less fun to be on. Like the fact alone that platforms have forced us to say the more marketable term of “unalive” instead of “suicide” when talking about heavy subjects online is enough for me to say social media has done more harm than good and we should all start finding other way to interact with the internet.
Ok that’s for Blog1 i guess im done rambling
